East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is committed to supporting the Firefighters Memorial Trust’s Annual Firefighters Memorial Day on the 4th May.
About the Firefighters Memorial Trust
The Firefighters Memorial Trust is a charity, managed by a dedicated Board of Trustees. The Trust exists to recognise the commitment and dedication of all United Kingdom Firefighters, (and those serving in designated British Overseas Territories), particularly those who have died as a result of their duties, serving the community.
The Memorial Trust look to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice of firefighters who have died whilst on duty whilst serving their communities.
The trust’s primary aim is to ensure that all those Firefighters who have lost their lives, while serving their communities are remembered and honoured.
The trust work hard to achieve this aim in a number of ways through monuments, chapels, memorial medals for next of kin and a number of formal remembrance services.
In addition to the two memorial services which are held annually, the Trust have formally established an ‘Annual Firefighters Memorial Day’ to take place on the 4th May each year.
